The bad cop you don't have to be

You did the work. Now you're chasing it.

Most projects don't stall on the build. They stall waiting on the client, and you end up as the one doing the nagging.

  • The files that never arrive

The logo is “coming this week”. The copy is “nearly done”. Your launch date slides while you write another polite nudge.

  • The questions left on read

Domain login? Brand colours? Final sign-off? Answers are spread across email, chat and a call you half remember.

  • The invoice after handoff

You delivered. Now you're drafting “just following up” emails and feeling like the bad cop for wanting to be paid.

How it works

Send one link. Tick everything off.

Set up in about a minute. Your client opens a link on their phone and works through it. No account, no app.

  1. Step 1: Make a link in about 60 seconds

Add what you need from your client: files, questions and an invoice with your own payment link. Add your final files and lock them.

    Invoice

    Final site files

  2. Step 2: Send it once

Your client gets one link. Calm reminders go out from “[Your Studio] Billing Desk” on a set schedule, and replies land in your own inbox.

Polite, on purpose

Reminders your client won't mind getting.

Each email names exactly what's still open and has one button. The wording gets clearer over time, never harsher. Your client never sees “overdue” or a threat.

Default reminder schedule

  1. 3 days before(sent)
  2. Due date(sent)
  3. +3 days(next)
  4. +7 days
  5. +14 days
  6. Then weekly

8 reminders at most. They stop the moment everything is ticked off, and pause when your client replies.

Why Tickoff

Everything the client owes you, in one place.

  • One link, nothing to log into

Files, answers and payment in a single checklist. Clients open it on a phone and tick things off.

  • Paid before delivered

Final files unlock when the invoice is paid. No awkward “so… about that invoice” after handoff.

  • We do the chasing, politely

Calm, factual reminders stop the moment your client finishes. No threats, no “final notice”. You stay the nice one.

  • The money goes straight to you

Clients pay through your own Stripe, PayPal, Wise or UPI link. Tickoff never holds your money and takes no cut.

  • Replies come to you

Reply-To is your own email. When your client replies, reminders pause and you pick it up from there.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Will my client need an account?

No. They open the link and tick things off. No sign-up, no password, no app.

Will emails come from me?

They come from “[Your Studio] Billing Desk”, which is clearly an automated desk and not a made-up person. Reply-To is your own email, so when your client answers, it lands in your inbox. You can preview every email before anything goes out.

Does Tickoff take a cut of payments?

No. You add your own payment link (Stripe Payment Link, PayPal, Wise, UPI, Razorpay and others), so the money goes straight from your client to you. Tickoff never touches it and takes no fee. Your provider's normal fees still apply.

What if my client has already paid?

Your client taps “I've paid”, which pauses reminders and tells you. You tap “Mark as paid” and the files unlock. With a Stripe Payment Link and the optional webhook, payment is detected automatically.

How often will my client be reminded? Will it get pushy?

By default: 3 days before the due date, on the due date, then +3, +7 and +14 days, then weekly, up to 8 reminders in total. The wording gets clearer, not harsher. You can change the schedule, reminders stop the moment everything is done, a reply from your client pauses them, and every email has a “Pause reminders” link.

Do you send texts?

Not yet. Tickoff is email-only. There's a “text them yourself” button that opens a prefilled message in your own phone's messaging app, sent from your own number.

What happens to my files and my client's files?

Files are stored in private cloud storage and served through short-lived signed links. Final deliverables stay locked until payment. Files are kept for 180 days after a link is completed, and you get an email before anything is deleted.

Who is it for?

Freelance web developers and web designers first, and it works just as well for graphic designers and video editors. If you collect things from clients and then have to chase the invoice, it's for you.

Be first to stop chasing.
